Feb-March Favourites 2016

Feb & March 2016 favourites

Hello Peeps,

Hope you’re all well and had lovely long weekend.

I have never done monthly favourites series but I think i will start such series on my blog now including some more to come soon. I always have curosity to watch monthly favourites videos of my favourite Youtubers and read about their favourites on some of my fave bloggers. I also tend to check ones who have a skin tone similar to mine (in a hope that i might find some gem that works for my skin tone which i have not discovered yet).

I had very few faves in the month of February. So, I combined my picks for last two months in a single post which I am sharing without any particular order.

  • Rimmel lipliners – Spice & Tiramisu

I think Rimmel does the best drugstore lip liners here in the UK. The quality is comparable to high-ends. I prefer these over Nyx/ Maybelline/ Kiko liners. Spice is my go-to and has been my favourite from years now. I have used so many pencils in this shade..I have shared swatches and reviews in my other post here.

Tiramisu is fairly new in my collection. It is in same colour family as the Spice liner but a bit lighter than that. It would be a perfect nude liner with some warmth for many skin tones and looks very flattering.

  • Collection lasting perfection concealer – Warm Medium

Collection Concealers are one of the best in drugstore and i think that’s one of the bestsellers from this brand. They do an illuminating one which is twist up concealer as well. That’s quite famous as well. I bought that twice but mine dried so quickly both the times so I didn’t like it much.

I have the shade Warm-medium in the Lasting perfection range and I love it so much. It has good coverage and works well for my skin tone.

  • Soap and Glory – Scrub your nose in it!

I purchased this scrub last year and at first i didn’t like it much. However, I included this in my regular skincare and now its one of my favourite. Well you can tell by looking at the tube 🙂 I reviewed this scrub here.

  • The Bodyshop Born Lippy lip balm – Strawberry

I have purchased this lip balm 4-5 times yet and always in the strawberry flavour. I slather this on my lips almost every time i am not wearing any lipstick. It gives a red tint to my lips without making it over powering and keeps my lips moisturised. This comes in a stick form as well which i use mostly when I travel.

  • Clean & Clear Blackhead clearing cleanser

This is my holy grail cleanser for stubborn blackheads on my nose. This makes my nose shiny and smooth in just one use. I use it twice a week. I have been buying this for years now and i freak out when I run out of this.

  • Bobbi brown corrector – Light Peach

I have bad dark circles due to sleepless nights (I am a mommy blogger :-D) and wearing a orange/peach corrector is essential for the flawless look. I do not wear heavy full coverage makeup daily but when I go out , I try to use a corrector under my concealer. This corrector does need warming up so heat from your fingers work best. Therefore i like to apply it with my ring finger instead of brush. This makes it easy to blend as well.

  • Illamasqua cream blush – Seduce

Illamasqua makeup products are such good quality that you cannot go wrong with any of that. I own two cream blushes from this brand and Seduce is one of them. Its looks dark in pan – kind of raspberry / plum shade but looks so good on my skin. Since its creamy, it blends so easily and does not cling to my dry patches. I love love love these blushes.

  • BarryM jelly shine nail paint – Cream Soda

I never thought i would apply white/cream shades to my nails. I used to stay away from pastels but ever since i bought few spring shades from BarryM last month, i have not stopped applying this one. I think this one is most flattering out of all. I can wear this nail paint almost daily now.

I also love Esprit coty nail paint in Pearl shine but it is difficult to get hold of. I am running out of that particular shade and trying to find anything similar.

  • Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter – Golden Lights

I have had this highlighter from quite few months now but never used it until the week i decide to review it. I wore it daily that particular week and got many complements. Seriously, i am in love with this inexpensive highlighter 🙂 Check full review and swatches here.

  • Soap & Glory mother pucker lipstick – Naked beige (Satin)

My blogger friend @ummbaby introduced this Naked Beige shade to me and no doubt its her favourite from this brand. This lipstick is MLBB kind of shade and is so easy to pull off. This can be applied effortlessly and keeps my lips hydrated. It has satin finish but good staying power. I have already purchased backups. You can read full review in my post here.

  • Balance me lip balm

This lip balm comes in a tube form and its very easy to apply. This came in with my Glamour magazine in Jan or Feb ( I am not too sure). A similar lip balm by Balance me was sent to me earlier as well but I lost the cap so i had to bin that (just to avoid any bacterias). This doesn’t last long but surely is good to carry for Gym or if you want to apply a tinted gloss which can keep your lips hydrated. I used it mostly because i wanted to test out this sample before i lost the cap again 🙂 . I might be purchasing this as I quite like it 🙂

  • Makeup Revolution Fortune favours the Brave palette

Fortune favours the Brave palette

This palette no doubt had to be featured in my favourites because it has all the shades i love to apply on my lids. It has the foiled shadows, the mattes, the satins as well as the shimmery ones. I love golds, pinks and greens most and it has got me covered at such an amazing price. Do not forget to check my review and swatches of this palette here.

  • Botanics Soothing eye makeup remover (for all skin types)

At the moment, i have a lot of makeup removers and cleansers but this one is my favourite at the moment. This is oil based cleanser which removes my makeup so effortlessly. Though its an eye makeup remover, i use it all over my face. This keeps my skin look hydrated and soft. I am LOVING IT 🙂

  • Superdrug Vitamin E facial serum

Superdrug skin care range is seriously so good from drugstore. I was introduced to this range by @ummbaby and @_beautyvsbeast_. Superdrug has so many  gems from various masks to serums. These are not heavy duty and can be used for everyday purposes. This serum is very light and sinks into skin so quickly. My husband and i love this so much that we use it daily morning and in the night. I sometimes add few drops of almond oil or l’oreal extraordinary facial oil to this and use it as my moisturiser.

Hope you liked atleast one of the products I mentioned above. What were your favourites in Feb and March? Let me know in the comments section below 🙂

Until next time…

Loads of love, Akanksha (Ash)
