Summer Makeup Edit

Summer is all about bronze and glow but melting makeup or looking shiny is definitely not a nice feeling! Here I’m talking about my makeup faves for summer 🙂

Primer: I’m loving Soap & Glory One heck of a blot primer | £10 this summer because its hydrating enough for my combination skin and keeps me matte throughout the day. But if large pores is your concern, the may not be for you. On days when my large pores are unhappy and decide to appear larger, i go for Maybelline baby skin Instant Pore eraser | £7.99 which is similar to Benefit’s Porefessional primer.

Base: If you follow me on Instagram, you should already know that I am loving lighter bases for summer. When it comes to absolutely sheer coverage with a little SPF, I go for Urban Decay Naked One and Done hybrid skin perfector | £25 (review here). Its like a tinted moisturizer which not only provides slight coverage, its pigments also colour corrects any imperfections and its long lasting. Bourjois 123 perfect cc cream | £9.99 is another light weight colour correcting cream which is long lasting and hides slight imperfections giving me a ready to go look. If you have oily skin, Nars Velvet Matte skin tint | £30 would be a great option.

Powder: I do not really use setting powder on day to day bases but i feel the pain of oily girls. I use Rimmel Stay matte powder in Translucent | £3.99 on days when my combination skin is more on oily side.

Lipstick: If you are a regular reader, you may know that I don’t like to touch up my makeup as I’m a Momma of a 2.5 yr old son and touch ups are really not on radar when I go out. Fellow Mommy readers would agree with me. Gerard Cosmetics Hydra Matte in ‘Everything Nice’ | £9.50 and Stila All day liquid lipstick in ‘Patina’ | £16 are my ‘pick me ups’ this summer. Both these liquid lipsticks were featured in my recent blog post here. If you like glossy lips with a hint of color then Too Faced Melted lip glosses and Clarins Lip Perfector are great options.

Blush: I can sometimes skip blushes and can rock just bronzer and highlighter but if you like to wear blush then warm corals are great options this summer. Clinique Cheek Pop – Ginger Pop | £17, New Cid Cosmetics i-glow – Coral crush | £25, Sleek Coral blush | £4.99, Illamasqua Cream blush – Dixie | £22 and Illamasqua Lover and Hussy duo | £26 are some of my favorites. These blushes were featured in my one of my posts here.

Bronzer: Bronzers are my definitely must haves for summers. They add warmth to my face and helps me getting a little tanned look Colourpop Bronze me – KaePop Collection | $8 & Too Faced Soulmates blushing bronzer – Carrie & Big |£26 are my current loves.

Highlighter: Warm toned Gold highlighters like Laura Geller Baked Gelato swirl illuminator in Gilded Honey | £21 and Kiko 208 Light Gold water eyeshadow | £8.90 looks stunning with bronzed look. Bobbi Brown Shimmer bricks and Makeup Revolushion Blushing Hearts in Peachy Keen is also a great alternative for Blush – Bronzer-Highlight (multipurpose) option.

Eyeshadow: A quick swipe of cream eyeshadow to give a wash of colour to your eye lids is enough to achieve a look that is put together in terms of eyes. Maybelline color tattoo in ‘On and On bronze | £4.99 (review here) is my old favourite. I have recently added Smashbox Limitless 15 hour cream eyeshadow in ‘Topaz’ | £16.50 to my collection which is a lighter option.

Mascara:  I am currently loving Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara | £7.99 and Stila Huge lashes mascara | £18. I prefer waterproof formulas for summer. So, I need to pick up the waterproof version of Lash sensational mascara.

Last but not least, using makeup setting sprays help a lot to increase staying power of your makeup. Urban Decay All nighter spray is a popular choice and ofcourse, using SPF is essential. I prefer Avene and La Roche Posay SPF options for sensitive skin available in market but you can use what you prefer. I have recently bought Caudalie Grape Water spray | £6 which gives a boost of moisture during the day and gives me dewy finish too. I use it in may skincare as well but its great for refreshing your makeup when its looking dull.

Let me know your thoughts about this post and what are your makeup faves this summer?

Loads of love,
Ash
