Summer Skin Prep Edit

Summer skin prep edit

So we are officially enjoying summer here in Britain and pretty much loving those chilled lemonade drinks or chilled beer sitting outside in the sun. When we talk about sun and summer, the first thought that comes to mind is getaway to a beautiful beach and get tanned. But whether you go to a beach or not, you want your skin to look bronzed and radiant. I am sharing few of my picks for summer which might help you in some ways.

Exfoliation with scrubs loaded with beads is outdated for face and its not good for the environment either. If you have problematic skin, granulated scrubs can irritate and worsen your problem. I recommend using Chemical exfoliator rich in glycolic acid like the cult favourite Pixi Glow Tonic.

I have sensitive skin (mostly dry) with large pores prone to clogging but when I used PGT for the first time, I could tell the difference immediately. It helps tone, firm and tighten the skin. This is an alcohol-free toner for all skin types. It removes dead skin instantly from the skin and gives you a radiant base for makeup.

Key ingredients: aloe vera, ginseng and glycolic acid-5%

Now I have tested this product for quite a few months now and I can proudly say I am hooked to this and all the rave about this product is definitely worth it!!!

Available in Marks & Spencer, Cult Beauty & Beautybay website.

  • Soap and Glory Flake away body scrub | £8 for 300ml | Boots

Its not just your face that needs to look radiant, its your body as well. You need to have healthy glowing skin when you fake tan or even if you wear dresses or shorts. I choose Soap & Glory Flake Away body scrub for this. This scrub is made with granulated sugar and not the beads so this is not harmful for environment. Soap & Glory market this as

Superhero-strength skin smoothing body exfoliator with shea butter, sweet almond oil, peach seed powder, sea salt and sugar. Flake Away a spa-strength dry skin body scrub. I know its quite a mouthful but it really lives up to it and is a wonderful treat to my body.

  • Aromatherapy Associates skin polishing brush | £15 | Net-a-Porter

Beauty lovers swear by a daily polishing brush to boost blood circulation and beat cellulite. Aromatherapy Associates skin polishing brush is a classic pick. Regular use of this brush reveals bright and even-toned skin.

  • Nuxe Prodigieux Shower Oil | £10 for 200ml | nuxe.co.uk

Layered with notes of orange blossom, vanilla and magnolia, this makes the perfect post-tanning shower oil. These notes definitely scream summer to me 🙂 Shower oils makes your body look healthy and radiant. This oil gently cleanses and boosts moisture into the skin with some fragrance that is an absolute pleasure. This is for all skin types and is also available on lookfantastic and Boots website.

  • Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Dry Oil | £17 for 50ml or £28 for 100ml | nuxe.co.uk

Here comes the perfect facial oil that works for my sensitive skin. I rave about this all the time. Its a Multi-purpose dry oil that nourishes, repairs and softens face, body and hair. It has a light fragrance which is addictive for a skincare product. It has a super light texture for an oil and blends really well. It is for all skin types so, my oily skin girls can very well try this and I am confident you will love this as much as I do! I have got multiple backups of this oil in my skincare drawer 🙂 . Nuxe also does a shimmering oil for body which is a great option for summer.

Also available from lookfantastic and Boots website.

  • Lush Bubblegum lip scrub | £5 for 15ml | uk.lush.com

We all know flaky chapped lips are not attractive by any means. I swear by Lush bubblegum lip polisher to exfoliate my lips. Lush products are handmade in the UK with natural ingredients that gives me much more confidence in trying their products.  This lip scrub contains caster sugar to exfoliate and jajoba oil to moisturize and infuse moisture to the lips. Definitely give these scrubs a go to achieve soft smooth lips.

Lush believes in ethical buying and is against animal testing 🙂

  • Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm | £9.50 for 15ml | nuxe.co.uk

I have dry lips which can get chapped if i don’t exfoliate and moisturize. During the day when I am not going out, I do not wear lipsticks and I prefer using tinted lip balms (just because they make me feel better about my pigmented lips). This is a repairing and nourishing lip balm that has rich and delicious texture to restore suppleness and soothes even the driest and most chapped lips. This is usually on my bedside table and i don’t forget to apply this before sleeping. This definitely is a skincare must have 🙂 .

Also available on lookfantastic.com and Boots.com

  • Self Tan

I have never tried self tanning products just because it was never essential for me. It definitely is nice to have for radiant bronzed looking body. I am seeing St. Tropez Self Tan Classic Bronzing Mist everywhere at the moment. I am quite interested to try simple and easy to use self tan which ofcourse should look even and not patchy. What products will you recommend for my sensitive skin?

    1. I agree Jasmine. I haven’t found any other exfoliating toner better than PGT yet. Nuxe oil is more of an addiction for me now. Love the smell and light texture. Have a safe weekend dear.

  2. This is such a useful post Ash thankyou! I have to admit I’m rubbish at remembering to use a scrub on my body D: I recently picked up the spin for perfect skin brush and its got a much larger one for the body, which I have been loving to use whenever I remember. I’ve never used a shower oil before, but it sounds like a great idea!

  3. So many of my faves here…I love it! Flake Away has been a must in my life for the last decade and Nuxe Reve De Miel is easily one of my most used products ever. xxx
