Top 5 Spring Base Products

Spring Foundations

If you know me, you would know I never wear full coverage foundations and I do not like the look of it either. I like my skin to look dewy and fresh all round the year but I know some of you prefer mattes which I totally understand. My skin is combination to dry and dewy finish base products look better on me.

As the flowers are blooming and the days are bit brighter, its time to say good bye to most mattes in your makeup collection and bring on that fresh looking skin. Today I am sharing my top picks for Spring foundations/tinted moisturisers that give you the fresh dewy finish look.

This is my newest obsession. I have been wearing this continuously specially when I am not bothered abut foundations etc. This is a tinted moisturiser that evens my base out and gives me enough coverage that my face looks presentable. This doesn’t feel heavy on skin and blends in with my skintone very well.

This product gives moisturising coverage in two shades (Light & Medium) for instant transformative results with clinically proven efficacy on blemishes, marks and clogged pores. This is specifically formulated for sensitive skin which is a plus for me because my skin can react easily to some products and can clog my pores.

This is a gem I should definitely admit. This is something I will wear all round the year (specially because it has skincare benefits too). Highly recommend checking this out.

I bought this base last summer and still use this. For me it has slightly more coverage than LRP Duo+ Unifant. This gives satin finish on my skin. This blurs out imperfections instantly and evens out my complexion. This cream combines the benefits of a sheer foundation with the coverage of a tinted moisturiser.

The weightless formula feels amazing on your skin. One & Done provides all-day wear and covers a wide range of skin tones. Light-diffusing spheres immediately help make flaws seem to disappear. This is also supposed to provide skincare benefits (like even skintone, smaller pores etc) over time but you need to use this regularly to enjoy the benefits. This has an SPF 20 which is another advantage.

Its 3 colour correcting pigments give a fresh and luminous result with SPF 15 and 24 hour hydration.

– Apricot for anti-fatigue.
– Green for anti-redness.
– White for anti-dark spots.

Its lightweight texture easily glides onto your skin for a smooth application. The shade Beige Clair is lighter for my skin tone but it oxidises slightly like most Bourjois base products after a while. It blends so well and doesn’t look ashy at all. If you like, you can go a shade darker. I just wish Bourjois brings out more shades in this. This is worth checking if you can get a right shade for yourself.

There is no denying the fact that VLC Water Canvas creme to powder formula is my favourite. You have been probably tired of seeing this on my social media. That’s because the formula is unique and the creme to powder texture doesn’t actually make it look powdery or dry on my face but it actually sets and gives a beautiful finish to the skin.

I like to use my Becca backlight priming filter primer underneath. The best way to use this is with the damp sponge. It will give better coverage this way and will make your skin look flawless with a ‘no makeup makeup look’. My skin looks like second skin and doesn’t look like i have makeup on. It gives flexible build-able coverage. This is priciest of all but totally worth it! Once you use this, you will be VLC converted :).

This is the only foundations I liked from Mac. Other foundations from Mac are just not for me as some being too heavy or full coverage and others oxidised on me in the past. I was reluctant to pick a Mac foundation before trying Face and Body but Glad I did. Its has a runny consistency and is a sheer foundation with buildable coverage. It doesn’t give a white cast on flash photography. This is often a choice for makeup artists for photography. If you prefer full coverage foundations, this may not be for you.

Mothers Day Gift set by Sanctuary Spa at Boots
Bourjois (oxidises after a while so picked lighter shade) plus i go for lighter coverage and these blend nicely on my skin

I am also enjoying using *Ilia Foundation brush | £36 for liquid foundations these days. This brush has an angled tip that provides controlled application and precision for those hard to reach places around the eyes and nose. The finish of the brush is iconic and it features soft bristles that are made with high-grade, synthetic Taklon, an easy-to-clean, cruelty-free material. I then go on with a damp sponge as a final step to make sure there are no streaks of foundation brush.

These were my top picks if you’re looking for a new base for Spring/Summer. Which ones are your favourite? which foundations do u recommend for achieving dewy base?

Much love

  2. Fine picks for base products. La Roche posay duo unifant seems pampering for skin.

  3. I need to use the Effaclar more often, I have the shade Light which is a bit too light for me, so I like to use it as my primer under foundations. x

  5. When you have oily skin, the dewy sounds a little bit scary, that’s why I prefer matte foundation which I know will get dewy a few hours later 🙂 I only used Mac one from your list, it is a good one and it is buildable. x
