Today I thought of doing a quick post on Valentines Day essentials that will help me get ready and make me look on point. However, the post is not that quick..lol 🙂
Skin Prep: Skin prep should start a night before the special day. I like to use Pixi Glow mud cleanser and leave it for few minutes to work as a quick mud mask. Follow with Pixi Glow tonic for quick exfoliation and then I like to use my favorite *Pomegranate firming, lifting sheet mask by Vitamasques to plump my skin. Moisturize with your favorite moisturizer. In the morning, I like to use Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing gel generously. It is non-sticky and absorbs quickly due to gel formula. I use *pep-start eye cream as it helps to keep under eye area hydrated and concealer doesn’t get cake-y afterwards.
Hair Prep: Wash with the *OUAI Shampoo & condition them with the Conditioner from the same range. These will make your hair look incredibly soft and smell amazing. If your hair are super frizzy, you can take a pump or two of *Got2b Oil-licious tame & shine styling oil by Schwarzkopf. Rub between your fingers and run through your damp hair. Let them air dry.
If you’re skipping on washing your hair due to work load or anything, I recommend using *Hair Texturizing spray from the OUAI to build extra volume onto your hair. This is an ultra-light weight spray that will refresh your hair and make them look incredible. This texturizing spray contains notes of Italian Bergamot and touches of Rose & Waterlily so your hair will smell amazing too. Hair texturizing spray like this one by the OUAI can be used before curling hair for added hold and dry texture. You will get loads of compliments for your hair!
Base:Â Primer: I like to use this Works Mask, Primer & Moisturizer in one to keep my skin moisturized and to increase longevity of my makeup.
Foundation – Mac Face & Body foundation to give a sheer to medium build-able coverage with dewy finish to give skin a very healthy and look. My shade is C3 in this foundation. This is the first Mac foundation that I am loving otherwise Mac foundations usually oxidize on my skin.
Corrector & Concealer – I have dark circles so I always have do correct them with peach corrector. I have used L.A Girl orange and yellow correctors to make my custom peach shade and I usually wait for about 2-3 minutes before going with concealer on top. I have used Urban Decay Naked skin concealer in Medium Dark Warm and Maybelline Age rewind Instant Age lift concealer in Nude.
I skip on the powder in colder months but if your skin is super oily, I like to recommend Hourglass powders or Kat Von D powders to seal your makeup. Sometimes IÂ use banana shade powder from her shade and sculpt palette to seal my makeup. Hourglass will give you that soft focus glow too. I heard Laura Mercier powders are very good too but i haven’t tried them personally.
Eyes: I have selected Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette for the look. Loveletter for the crease and Primavera for the lid. Tempera eyeshadow makes a perfect brow bone highlight if you like matte highlight otherwise you can choose Vermeer from the same palette. I really like how this look turns out. Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper is perfect for the cat eye look. Maybelline Lash Sensation is my go-to mascara so I have chosen same for the look. You can skip on lashes for the day time look but if you still want to wear then I recommend Ardell Demi wispies or check out Eyeronic Lashes and support their small business. The girls are doing really good and I recommend checking them out for luxurious looking lashes. I am going to order a pair or two for myself too.
Blush: *Kiko shade fusion trio blush in 01 Natural Rose is my blush of choice for the look. I am surprised by the colour pay off from this blush compact. It gives me most beautiful rosy look and it stays all day. I really like the gun metal packaging of this collection. I highly recommend checking these out. Here top swatch is the mix of all three shades.
Lips: I have selected a Rosewood shade of liner (will be revealed in my next post as these are releasing next month in the UK) but you can choose any of your favourite line if you feel the need. The lipstick chosen is *Kiko Gossamer Emotion creamy lipstick in 103 Powder Pink. Its a beautiful soft pink shade and will suit most skintones. I however have pigmented lips so I like to line and fill my lips with a long wearing lipliner before going on top with a light shade lipstick. The packaging of these lipsticks is amazing. It has the click button so the lipstick can come out. It is dual tone – gold and gun metal packaging. I really like how Kiko products stand out. I am already a fan of their amazing formulas. I have quite a lot of kiko lipsticks in my collection. This one is long wearing even with the creamy formula. It keeps my lips hydrated as well.
Highlight: I have used Dior DiorSkin Nude Air Luminiser powder in 001 for the look. It gives me the most beautiful pearlescent glow. I love it and get so many compliments when I wear this illuminator.
Finish off with a makeup setting spray like Mac Prep & Prime Fix+ or Urban Decay All Nighter spray for that dewy look and Tadaaaaaaaaaaaa 🙂
