Summer is over but you still can fake that sun-kissed glow in colder months. I am going to share my top picks for achieving healthy looking skin specially for the Christmas.
Pixi Glow Tonic | £18
Beautiful makeup starts with healthy skin. You need to have well exfoliated skin to achieve a flawless glow-y base. Regular readers know I trust my Pixi Glow Tonic for getting the perfect exfoliated base. This is an alcohol-free exfoliating facial glow tonic for all skin types. It helps tone, firm and tighten the skin. It removes dead skin cells for healthier looking skin. It is very gentle so it can be used daily. However, I do like to rotate my skincare products as you might have seen on my Instagram (here). I am on my second bottle now and really like this stuff!
Clean & Clear Blackhead clearing cleanser | £4
Clean & Clear blackhead clearing cleanser is another option for getting that smooth blackhead/dead skin-free skin in just one swipe but this is quite strong. I would say try sniffing this in store before purchasing as this may not be for everybody. The alcohol/chemical smell is very overpowering in this but if you don’t mind that, I recommend checking this out.
Becca Backlight priming filter | £32
If you are after that lit-from-within kind of glow, look no further! This primer by Becca Cosmetics is a game changer. This primer creates a diffused, soft-focused radiance that blurs imperfections and allows your complexion to catch light in the most gorgeous way. I like to team this up with cc cream or foundation and it just makes my base look dewy and healthy. This is a quite pricey product for a primer but Loreal Paris Lumi Magique primer from drugstore is a great alternative.
Soap & Glory Hocus Focus Illuminator | £11
This offering by Soap & Glory is also brilliant to make the skin glow. This is a good dupe for Mac Strobe cream. If you don’t go overboard with this, you will get that soft diffused glow on your skin if worn under foundation or tinted moisturiser. This is also a very good option for mixing with foundation to sheer it out a bit and add glow pigments.
Giorgio Armani Luminous silk foundation | £37
This foundation is my new found love mainly because the shade 6 is olive toned and is close to my skin tone (a tad bit darker but works well). This weightless foundation has medium to buildable coverage and gives a beautiful silky satin finish. This foundation gives a dewy finish if worn with any of the primers/illuminators mentioned above. This is SPF-free so there won’t be flash backs during night photography.
Bourjois 123 perfect cc cream | £9.99
This is such a great coverage cc cream. I do not need to use any concealer when I wear this base. Its 3 colour correcting pigments give a fresh and luminous result with SPF 15 and 24hr hydration.
- Apricot for anti-fatigue
- Green for anti-redness
- White for anti-dark spots
It is very light weight and glides onto skin smoothly. I prefer this on day to day basis and it gives a dewy healthy finish to my skin which I absolutely love. I bought the shade Beige Clair from store and this is a tad bit light on me but it blends and looks gorgeous without being ashy. I highly recommend checking this out.
Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar kit highlighter | £49
My love for Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow kit highlighter is no brainer! I have been raving about the highlight side of the kit since the very first time I used it. It gives me just stunning glow without being over powering. The powder is very finely milled so you do not see any shimmer. The highlighter is built up from a golden base that flatters any skin tone, and uses Light Flex Technology to capture light and radiate it out for a luminous complexion. I just wish the bronzer was slightly more pigmented as it doesn’t show up much on my medium skintone.
Hourglass Surreal Strobe Light palette | £69 | Post
The surreal light setting powder gives me a soft focus lit from within look without looking cakey. I use this all over my face to set my foundation and to give my skin a diffused look. Surreal Strobe Light highlighter looks so pretty on all skin tones. It is not BAM in you eyes kind of highlighter but still looks very sophisticated and glowy.
Makeup Revolution Radiance Palette | £8 | Post
The idea is similar to Hourglass Ambient lights palette where we have finely milled diffused illuminators which creates an illusion that you are glowing from within. You can imaging how your highlight will look when seen in diffused soft focus light, that’s the way these illuminators work. This palette has three different shades – Breathe (Neutral Beige), Exhale(Cool toned cream shade) and Glow ( Warm toned gold shade) . This palette was featured in my top 10 drugstore highlighters. The powders are finely milled and this palette is such a steal for good quality product at affordable price. Highly recommend!
Makeup Setting sprays
Makeup setting sprays works wonders in setting your makeup and at the same time faking that glow. It will also make your makeup look flawless without being cakey. I really like Caudalie grape water, Caudalie beauty elixir and Mac fix+ for the purpose. Caudalie ones are multi purpose as they have skincare benefits too and can be used at any time of the day. They work as great toners. Mac fix+ however is only for makeup setting. Nyx professional setting spray and Urban Decay all nighter spray are also very good options.
Hope you enjoyed this post. Until next time..
