Hello my loves,
If you follow me on social media, you must know that I equally love my drugstore and highend blushers. It just has to be in right shade that suits asian skin tone and should have great staying power. I do not like to carry lot of makeup items in my purse/bag for touchups unless its a special occasion. Illamasqua blushers are not very old in my collection. I have them for about couple of months now but I never got around to reviewing them. Ever since I bought this duo compact in Lover & Hussy and two of their compact blushers, I am totally addicted.
Name and packaging
The name Lover & Hussy sounds really scandalous but they actually are very sweet and soft 😉 I love how Illamasqua have named this blusher duo. The packaging is glossy and sturdy plastic and shapes like a stylish curvy diamond like their most compact products. Packaging is posh and looks expensive. The size of compact is huge and has a good size mirror in it. The compact does not come with a brush and applicator which I don’t mind because I anyways use my Real Techniques brush to apply my blush. Also, it saves space of applicator and instead gives you more blush 🙂 .
This compact duo in shades Lover & Hussy are beautiful peachy apricot and candy pink shades respectively. These shades are very versatile for any time of the year and suits most skin tones (particularly fair and medium). You can even mix both shades together and apply as a new shade on your cheeks 🙂 The mix of two shades gives a shade which looks quite like natural flush on the cheeks.
They have a shade chart for all products on their website where they have shown how a particular product looks on fair, medium and dark skin tones. This makes so much easier to shop online. You can really imagine how its going to look on your skin tone. Definitely a thumbs up for this.
The texture is very smooth, creamy and has a matte finish. These blushers does not come patchy on skin and blends very easily. Both shades have great pigmentation so you do not need too much product to show up on your cheeks unless you have dark complexion. That means this duo compact will last you a long time. There is noticeable fallout on the pan when I swirl my brush around which concerns me a bit. This may be due to the soft texture and formula of the product.
This matte blush does stay for good 5-6 hours when i use a primer and if you use a fixing spray on your face after applying makeup it will last more. It vanishes after about 6 hours without becoming patchy at all.
Price, Quantity and Availability
Retails for £26 in the UK for 2*2 gms that is 4 gms of product. It is available from Illamasqua website or from ASOS.com, Beautybay.com, net-a-porter.com and debenhams.com.
Great everyday wear blusher for fair to medium skin tones. Gives a natural flush of color so can be worn for any occasion and at any time of the year. Good pan size and mirror is added advantage. Fall outs from pan may be a concern for some people.
