Hope you’re well.
March has started already but weather in England is still very chilly and windy. I am desperately waiting for spring (weather wise) However, the flowers have started blooming and gardens are green and bright again :).
Today I want to share my top 5 nude lipsticks with you all. I have medium skin tone and have pigmented lips. Finding a perfect nude lipstick is so difficult for me because it has to be opaque enough to cover my pigmentation and should not wash me out. Without blabbering too much, I will just share my picks with you 🙂
These are not in any order as all of these are my FAVOURITES 🙂 🙂
- Mac Velvet Teddy
If you love Mac lipsticks, you must be aware that Velvet teddy is one of the most popular and best selling lipsticks from Mac Cosmetics. It was worn by Kim Kardashian for many years and is a cult favourite in the beauty world.
This lipstick is very opaque, has a matte finish and stays on for several hours. It is a pinky dark beige colour. If I wear this lipstick without a lip liner it appears a bit lighter (more on a mauve side). So, I like to pair it with Rimmel London 011 Spice lip liner. This lip liner gives my lips a peachy brown base and even outs my lips. This combo looks so stunning that I can wear it with smokey eyes or any makeup look really. Its a perfect everyday nude shade for many women!
It retails for £15.50 and can be purchased from Maccosmetics.com, Debenhams, Selfridges or House of Fraser in the UK.
2. Essence Cosmetics – 06 Barely there
This is a satin finish lipstick and has a rosey brown shade. This shade is very close to velvet teddy. however, this is more comfortable to wear due to its formula. When I want a minimalist look or to have my lips but better look then I choose this shade. You can increase the longevity by applying a lip liner underneath.
This does not last for as long as velvet teddy does but the huge price difference justifies that. This retails for only £2.30 and can be purchased from wilko.com .
This shade is very pretty as you can see in the swatch so, i am sure you won’t be disappointed.
3. Gerard Cosmetics – 1995
Next comes is the Gerard Cosmetics lipstick in the shade 1995. This lipstick shade got so popular with the launch of Gerard Cosmetics (originally Whitening Lightening). This shade was the reason I decided to place my first order with GC, United States. At that time, this brand was not available in the UK so I had to get it delivered from the US. As you can see, the packaging is super pretty – A shiny gold bullet that looks so luxurious in my vanity. The shape of bullet is similar to Mac lipsticks. Its a browny nude and has a super matte finish. The colour comes very opaque so you do not need a lip liner underneath. The formula is long lasting so you need not worry about touching up often. It perfectly works on fair to medium to dark skin. It looks absolutely stunning on my lips and compliments my medium skin tone.
This lipstick is now available in the UK and retails for £9.50 on Beautybay.com and they do international deliveries as well. However, if you order directly from Gerardcosmetics.com , it will cost you around $19 per lipstick. I ordered a set of 5 lipsticks in an offer and they delivered it to UK for free :). They post discount codes on their Instagram account (if you are not aware).
4. Soap and Glory Sexy Mother pucker lipstick – Naked Beige
Years ago, I used to think that Soap and Glory does only skincare and body washes etc and they were pretty expensive for drugstore. When I got addicted to makeup and started watching Youtube videos, I was introduced to their makeup range. That’s when I started buying their makeup from Boots.com ( My local Boots store sells only skincare from this brand and has a really small space dedicated to each brand so it definitely sucks!). Let me tell you honestly, I am super impressed and have become a fan of their makeup. Their body washes, scrubs and body butters are so rich and good , that we all know. But makeup…ohh i want to buy each and everything from their makeup range as well. The quality of their products is at par with high end products. yes, you read it right!
Now back to this lipstick; I love the packaging and the unique name they have given (all their products have catchy names and pretty packaging). They do a sexy mother pucker lipglosses which plump the lips and became very famous. Then they came up with these lipsticks but the shade range is very limited. This shade is called Naked Beige. The name sounds very browny or dull browns type of colour so it did not attract me by hearing just the name. But Ummbaby always talks about this lipstick so I had to buy this (she is an enabler for so many soap and glory buys! ). And voila, it is now my best pick from tonnes of other lipsticks I have in my collection.
It is a peachy nude with hints of brown and pink…ohh so difficult to describe but have a look at the swatch 🙂
The formula is satin and glides on like a dream. Its very moisturising and stays on quite well. These satin lipsticks come in glossy bullets while their matte lipsticks come in matte bullets (how cool is that!)
You need to try this and I am sure you will love it as much as I do. These were usually sold for £9 , got reduced to £6 but currently are at further reduced price of £4 (what a bargain!). I think I am going to order backups at this price :). You can purchase these from boots.com
5. Lakme Enrich satins 129
This has been my holy grail nude lipstick for 5 years now. I have finished 3 bullets and its my 4th bullet now (that’s because i have other lipsticks too and sometimes I wear bright shades 🙂 ) This is the only shade i bought from Lakme’s enrich satins range and i love it so much.
As the name says, Enrich satins is a satin formula which is very enriching and moisturising on the lips. The shade is peachy nude and looks so gorgeous on the lips. This has been my go to lipstick for years and there has to be a reason, yeah? Try it and you will know it!
Have you tried any of the lipsticks I mentioned above? If yes, don’t forget to let me know your thoughts in the comment section. Do you have any nude lipstick recommendations for me?
Loads of love, Akanksha ( Ash)
