As a Fragrance-Addict, I like to stay up to date with new releases in the market and try to get my hands on the fragrances which I think may please my senses. It doesn’t have to be from Niche Fragrance houses only. Many at times, Designer or Fashion House fragrances are just as amazing as Niche too.
Roberto Cavalli (Coty group) launched a new fragrance of their perfume collection called Florence at the end of 2017. The collection is inspired by the roots of the fashion house in Florence bathed in the golden light of the setting sun. This indescribable moment is captured in this honey-coloured liquid and encased in a bottle. The first flanker came out in early 2019 and is called Florence Amber.
Roberto Cavalli is one such designer brand which was not necessarily on my fragrance radar but the bottle and colour of juice just stood out to me and when I read the notes (Vanilla, Cashmere wood & Amber – I see you) , I had to give it a try! This fragrance is created by the perfumer Marie Salamagne.
About the Brand –Roberto Cavalli is an Italian fashion designer and inventor. He was born in Florence, Tuscany and is known for exotic prints and for creating the sand-blasted look for jeans. The high-end Italian fashion house Roberto Cavalli sells luxury clothing, perfume and leather accessories. This Italian designer first came into prominence in the 70s when he invented a ground-breaking textile printing technique which allowed him to experiment with different materials and designs and finally to open his own boutique in Saint-Tropez. His sexy fashion collections with animal prints and his signature jeans soon became iconic and favoured by the likes of Brigitte Bardot.
Packaging – This fragrance has got an eye-catching Italian cut glass bottle that looks like design of a scotch or whiskey glass to me. The design on the glass bottle plays with light and form fascinating patterns. It looks beautiful on the vanity or fragrance tray.
Fragrance Description – An inviting ode to the birth place of the iconic house, Roberto Cavalli Florence Amber captures the dazzling resplendence of the city. The opening notes celebrate signature Italian treasures; a sophisticated interplay of cypress, zesty mandarin and essence of lemon. Giving way to a second chord of quince, cashmere wood and golden gardenia, a balmy and sensuous white flower grounds the composition. Smooth honey enriched with patchouli makes up the root note, creating an empowering and irresistible symphony that casts the wearer in luminous light.

Notes Description – Opening is juicy citrus from lemon with a hint of amber and cypress. Heart is composed of sweet Quince, gardenia and smooth Cashmere wood adding character to the fragrance. The dry-down builds on a luxurious chypre accord and the whole composition is tied together with warm and sweet Patchouli, Vanilla and Honey.
Florence Amber EDP comes in 30, 50 and 75 ml sizes and can be purchased from Notino.
Overall thoughts – This fragrance captures the style of a woman who’s just as seductive and charming as Florence itself. This is a beautiful floral woody composition with sweetness from vanilla and warmth of honey. Definitely a sophisticated blend with depth and character. The fragrance is perfect for both day and evening time – Great for date situations and close encounters.
